Associate/Principal Mechanical Engineer
Location: Kelowna
Providing leadership to the Kelowna office, the Associate forms a vital part of Cobalt Engineering’s leadership team and is responsible for managing a Project Design team and providing general management of operations. The Associate provides leadership, technical support, and management resources essential for design decision-making and team management accountability.
Responsibilities:
• Works with the Cobalt’s Leadership Team (headed by CEO) to control and coordinate business development, sales/marketing, team targets, team personnel, technical design and related activities
• Develops, establishes, and administers procedures and systems pertaining to team management matters
• Prepares work load, sales forecasts and team resources/schedule for administrative and managerial functions
• Serves as the principle liaison with selected clients or major projects
• Upholds and maintains Cobalt Engineering design standards and will be responsible for engineering, specifications, documentation, standardization, quality assurance, cost and value analysis and the broader aspects of Division 15 mechanical building services (plus role of Managing Consultant as required)
Candidate Profile:
• Professional Engineer (PEng., PE or equivalent) designation
• Minimum 10 years of specific HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection experience
• Expertise in sustainable building systems design, such as microclimate analysis, façade design, radiant heating and cooling, displacement ventilation, etc., is highly preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of BC Building Codes (Alberta and Ontario Code knowledge is useful), ASHRAE, NFPA and industry standards
• LEED® accreditation an asset
• Superior interpersonal skills with both staff and clients
