Introducing Cobalt Engineering
With opposable thumbs and new ideas, VEL Engineering has evolved…
The partners at VEL Engineering are pleased to announce that we will now be operating under the name Cobalt Engineering (effective May 5, 2005).
We are a different company than we were 19 years ago. We have evolved with the changing times and are prepared for the challenges of the future. We have worked hard to find new ways to add value to our clients’ projects and our design teams as well as to improve our internal operations. As a forward-thinking, action-oriented company, we have created positions within the firm that did not exist here even three years ago, such as Sustainable Design Researcher, Building Simulation Specialist, LEED Services Manager, Client Liaison, Marketing and Human Resources Managers and Financial Controller.
Such developments are in response to both global and local changes in the market. Developing countries like China and India are on the verge of becoming the world’s largest economies. What are the implications for a Vancouver-based company designing building systems? How can we help our clients create projects that will be resilient against high energy costs and increasingly tight markets? This is a significant shift in focus and an atypical approach for a mechanical engineering firm.
Why Cobalt?
Cobalt is a sturdy, resilient element that is famous for its vibrancy, brilliance and stability. It is a bold word that is easy to say, spell and remember.
Why the colours?
The obvious choice for colour would be cobalt blue. However, Cobalt Engineering is not about the obvious; we are a company of thinkers, of visionaries, of people with extraordinary ideas. The grey represents the pragmatic engineering side of the company, while the green-yellow is an unexpected, inventive and warm colour.
