Kai Chen, Associate

Kai Chen joined the Cobalt team in January 1994. He graduated from one of the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in China, Shanghai Jiaotong University with a degree in Engineering. After graduation, Kai completed a two-year Engineer-in-Training program in China. He received his diploma with honors in Mechanical System Technology in 1994.

With his solid educational background, Kai has a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of mechanical systems for various buildings. This enables him to apply these principles including sustainable strategies to the HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems that best meet the needs of his clients.

Kai brings over 14 years of experience and expertise to the Cobalt team with a focus on sustainable design. He has successfully completed a variety of projects including institutional buildings, high-end residential, student housing, restaurants, small to large scale tenant fit-up/retrofits, renovations, and high-tech relocation/consolidations. His project management role includes concept design, system selection, administration, on-site problem solving and commissioning. Kai has strong project management skills particularly for fast track, schedule sensitive projects.

As a participating member of the Association of Professional Engineer and Geoscientists of BC, as well as the American Society of Plumbing Engineers, Kai enjoys learning about new technologies to continually improve and strengthen his skills. His commitment to customer service is highly valued and appreciated by Cobalt’s clients.
