Mark S. Blamey, Partner
“Science is about the cultivation of original ideas. Good engineering is the art of combining proven ideas in an original way.”

Mark has been actively involved in the design and project management of energy efficient and cost effective buildings for 25 years. He has been involved in an assortment of large and complex projects in Western Canada, California, and Ontario. One of his greatest strengths lies in his diversity, as he has experience working in a variety of sectors, including hotels, retail, office, residential, laboratories, educational, and manufacturing.
Mark’s personal philosophy is that building systems must be reliable, maintainable, and cost effective. This perspective is tightly aligned with the current market values of innovation and sustainability.
He has worked on many large scale sustainable elements, such as the seawater cooling system at Canada Place, ground water cooling system at Oakridge Centre, occupant sensitive fume hood air volume controls at the Canadian Forensic Laboratories in Ottawa, and co-generation systems for both Kodak and Campbell’s Soup. Mark is committed to designing better buildings for a better future.
To Mark, sustainability is best described metaphorically. During the 1960s, one of the more popular magazines was LIFE. The 1970s saw the emergence of a weekly publication called PEOPLE. By the 1980s, there was a new best-selling periodical called US. And, with the 1990s, came a magazine known as ME. In the broadest sense, sustainability is a way to get people like us to stop thinking about me so that we can all focus on sustaining a high standard of life.
