Conrad Schartau, Managing Partner
As a managing partner for Cobalt, Conrad displays an incredible amount of thought leadership for all aspects of building services. Since joining the company in 2006, he has successfully led Cobalt’s electrical division, established CDML (Cobalt’s sister company), and brought in refrigeration consulting and design to the company’s list of services.
With more than 24 years of experience in the building services industry sector, his educational background combined with extensive work experience makes him an expert in the field of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat recovery. Conrad has been an instrumental leader in both the introduction of VRF Technology and CO2 refrigeration technology to Canada.
VRF dramatically increases energy efficiency in buildings and has proven to be successful in various recent developments across Canada including the award winning Discovery Green, Building 12 in Burnaby, BC. CO2 refrigeration systems are energy efficient and reduce GWP (Global Warming Potential) dramatically. Conrad has recently lead one of our design teams on a highly sustainable supermarket project which utilized CO2 and full refrigeration energy recovery.
Conrad’s past experience working with top Fortune 500 companies including Hitachi and Mitsubishi, gives him the knowledge and expertise to introduce cutting-edge technologies in North America that are proven in other parts of the world. With a strong technical background in refrigeration, and mechanical and electrical engineering, Conrad consistently champions environmental sustainability through his designs, offering innovative building solutions that meet the demands of today’s changing market.
Conrad’s leadership stems from building on past experiences and continuously embracing change to keep up with the current market. His business acumen and core values of integrity and personal development allow him to constantly think outside the box, and execute new ideas and innovative ways to help grow Cobalt’s business.
