“Sustainable building design does not necessarily mean spending more money, it is achieved by combining the creative imaginations of architects, engineers and developers working together as a team, pursuing common goals and believing that we can make a difference”.

Neil Janssen, Project Manager

Email

Joining the team in 2006, Neil comes from a background in building systems designs that focus on energy efficient and environmentally friendly HVAC systems. Prior to that, he spent over fifteen years in the Alberta oil and gas industry. Neil’s unique experiences enable him to adopt a unique 360 degree perspective and to better understand the need for robust sustainable designs.

Shifting his focus toward the alternative energy industry, he has been involved in the design of alternative energy heating and cooling systems, as well as planning customized solar, geothermal, and heat pump hybrid configurations. These energy systems have been integrated into many large scale projects that include hotels, multi-unit residential buildings, and resorts. Some of Neil’s most recent accomplishments include the Recreation Centre (Pool & Arena) retrofit in Grand Forks.

Neil has considerable experience as both a practicing designer and a project manager. He believes that partnerships between engineers and architects are essential to create optimal power solutions that reduce the burden on our finite resource while creating a healthier place to live, work, and play.
