Crestwood Corporate Centre

The final three Crestwood Buildings raised the bar for the design of environmentally responsible office buildings.

The Crestwood Corporate Centre is an award winning 850,000 ft 2 commercial office centre. Designed to accommodate a diverse range of high tech tenants, building goals specified the design of flexible, high quality buildings. As the project progressed, building goals became increasingly sustainable with a focus on energy efficiency.

Cobalt provided mechanical engineering services for the design of Buildings 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 10. Building 8 marked the first C-2000 building designed to consume only 50% of the energy specified by the Model National Energy Code for Buildings. Following suit, Buildings 2 & 10 were also designed according to environmentally responsible principles.

Key mechanical strategies include using high-efficiency boilers and a four-pipe fan coil secondary system. Using 100% outdoor air supply resulted in improved indoor air quality as well as realizing free cooling properties. Water conservation included low flow plumbing fixtures and lighting loads were minimized using daylight and occupancy sensors.

Overall mechanical strategies contributed to a reduction in energy consumption that produced a tremendous operational savings for each facility. As the on-going mechanical consultants for the Centre, Cobalt continued to create more robust designs with each project to meet the evolving needs of the marketplace.
