Lions Gate Hospital
Over $40 million in upgrades and renovations has been performed since 2000, while remaining fully operational.
The Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) provides general and specialized acute care services. With 335-beds and seven operating rooms, it is one of Vancouver’s busiest hospitals. To ensure LGH continues to meet the needs of the growing community, this health care facility has undergone continual upgrades and renovations.
Cobalt first partnered with the hospital in 2000 to provide mechanical consulting services. Since then, Cobalt has continued this relationship as the preferred mechanical consultant providing design services for a variety of projects exceeding $40 million.
With many projects already completed, the current focus is on the Emergency Department renovation that is scheduled for completion in 2008. This project involves phasing the project over four separate departments including lab, ultrasound, stores, and emergency department. The biggest design challenge will be the keeping disruptions to a minimum while the ER remains fully operational.
Over the last seven years Cobalt has formed a solid relationship with LGH as the preferred mechanical consultant. Understanding the needs of LGH is the critical component to successfully delivering projects that repeatedly meet the Hospital’s needs. Some of our projects include:
